GARMIN ZUMO 660 SATELLITE NAVIGATOR

GARMIN ZUMO 660 SATELLITE NAVIGATOR

Garmin, a pioneer in satellite navigation has come out with a product, specific for bikers and their navigation.  It is very compact and weighs a little more than a quarter kg. The special feature of this device is that it is wholly designed by bikers and thus very user friendly. It has a rugged casing and a water proof body. This device takes care of the main drawback of touch screens on motorcycle based navigators, i.e. the icons are large enough to be handled comfortably with the gloves on. It comes with preloaded base maps of the U.S, Europe, Canada. It also has features to add more maps and also places of interest.

It helps to plan your route by providing options to mark up to a thousand waypoints and preplanned routes of up to 20. The screen of this navigator is designed to be bright even while viewing under sunlight and does not let you down in that aspect. It has options to show you the quickest route or the shortest route or even the off-road route, so that you can choose anyone between the three.

Though it comes with an internal solid state memory, it also provides compatibility with microSD card so that you can increase its memory. Route instructions are voice based and give you street to street instructions along the way. It has Bluetooth compatibility and thus the instructions can be transmitted to you through the Bluetooth headset. The speed limiter indicator indicates the speed limit of different areas and alerts you at those places. Routes can also be planned to eliminate the many tolls that plague the roads. Multiple route planning is an added feature of this device.

The advanced lane assist feature in this device corrects and guides you through the correct lane for your journey through highways. The Bluetooth technology also allows you to use it as a phone and make and receive hands free calls on the go. The MP3 player in the device allows you to convert it to a music player and play your favorite songs to your Bluetooth headset on the go. It also has an in built picture viewer. Its extra sensitive antenna proves to be worthy enough. One downside is that its rechargeable battery has a life of only 5 hrs, thus making you to carry an extra battery or make your trips short.
